Authorship and Data Sources

This site was built by Sara Soba, working with Professor Maggie Douglas, during the summer of 2018.

The data used on this website were the result of an extensive aggregation process. The data ultimately originated from four different public sources:

Limitations of our Data

Although we made our best efforts to utilize the most sufficient and applicable data, there are some limitations to our study. First, ld50 units are determined through acute insecticide exposure to adult honeybees and therefore do not account for effect on larval honeybees or the effects of chronic exposure to insecticides. Additionally, ld50 units do not account for the synergistic harmful effects of insecticides, pathogens, and changing floral resources. Finally, our data only contain metrics for insecticide use in agricultural lands and therefore do not account for insecticide use in urban or non-agricultural habitats.
